Children's Social Care Improvement
The latest assessment by inspectors brings Wirral's Children's Services out of Government intervention. The inspectors praised the new leadership of the department judging their impact as "good".
Overall, the department was rated "required improvement to be good" while the full report praises many aspects of the changes brought in over the last two years and says, "the council now acts as a strong corporate parent".
Improvement Board
Before the 2019 Ofsted inspection, an Improvement Board was responsible for closely monitoring the development and delivery of an improvement plan for children’s services.
The Board ensured the council and its partners worked together to make improvements which promote and protect the wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people.
An independent chair of the Improvement Board was responsible for reporting progress to the Secretary of State.
