Early Help

What is Early Help?

Early Help is a term describing a range of interventions by agencies with an individual child or family which aim to offer support to make sure all of their needs are met so they can flourish.

Interventions can be ‘early’ in terms of the age of a child, and ‘early’ in terms of an issue arising in the life of a child – from pre-birth to eighteen.

Early Help is everybody’s responsibility: together we will make sure that children, young people and their families are safe, happy and ready for school, work and life’s challenges.

Early Help means better outcomes for children and families. Effective Early Help will resolve problems before they become overwhelming and require high cost, reactive services. Early Help enables children to be ready for school and more likely to achieve their full potential.

Community Matters Partnership

Community Matters forms part of our early help delivery model which includes working with non-profit and community partners. We recognise that community organisations play an important role in supporting and delivering key Early Help services within Wirral.

Our Community Matters Partnership was launched in January 2019. The Partnership will see Wirral Council’s Early help services work with partners including HomeStart, WEB, Fender Community hub, Caritas, WIRED and North Birkenhead Development Trust and the Safer Wirral Hub.
