One in five people in the UK have a disability. This includes the thousands of students who are planning to go to university next September!
Students in the final year of their A Levels, BTECs or T Level courses are now planning their next steps for when they finish school or college. Many of them will be thinking about university.
This is a big decision for anyone. However, having a disability can bring extra challenges when thinking about what course is right for you, what university you should choose and what support will be available.
The One In Five Podcast has been created by disabled students, for disabled student who are planning to go to university. You will hear from Alice, Dominique, Jessica, Kyle, and Matthew who all have lived experience of being a student with a disability. They each have a different story to share to help you get the most out of your time at university.
There are six episodes of the podcast and some of the topics covered include the journey to diagnosis, the support available, a guide to university events and what the future holds for disabled students accessing university. There is even a guest appearance from UCAS!
