HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY SENDLO!
Today is exactly 1 year since we launched SENDLO. It’s been quite a year!
We wanted to share with you some of the fantastic feedback people have taken time out of their busy lives to share with us. Young people, parents and carers, colleagues working in education, health, social care and our third sector organisations have all sent birthday wishes and some really fab feedback.

“SENDLO has been a game changer. The world of SEND is so complicated and it has saved me hours of worrying to be able to visit SENDLO to get answers to my many questions. The information is written in language that is easy to understand and clearly a lot of time has been spent listening to people’s would likes. No acronyms, no jargon, more videos, less text and a much better search functionality. The tool to adapt the content to the readers’ needs (Dyslexia, ADHD friendly) is such a great addition. When I’ve had a query, I’ve made contact via the SENDLO e mail and had a reply, the same day. Thanks for making Wirral’s SEND Local Offer accessible, inclusive, informative and responsive. Happy Birthday SENDLO!

The new SEND local offer at Wirral, has made a great difference in my journey to navigate and advocate for my son. All the information I need is now available at the click of a button. There is also the option to give feedback and suggestions of what may need to be updated. Easy to use and understand.”

“The SENDLO summer programme I attended with my child provided a much needed space for myself and other families to be heard and offered a chance to work collaboratively with the Local Offer. I was able to talk about the daily struggles in meeting the needs of a "complex needs" child and make suggestions for services that would best support our community. I felt the programme allowed the Local Offer to listen to first-hand experience, learn from the "lived experience" and understand the barriers we face to gaining equality. I am now hopeful that this signifies a positive move forward in filling these gaps identified.

“SENDLO is super helpful and helped me get lots of answers to my questions. I find it very easy to use. I can always stay up to date with the active social media presence. Happy 1st Birthday SENDLO! “

“The launch of Wirral’s SENDLO was an important milestone in our continuous improvement journey. SENDLO sets out our commitment to working with children, young people and families to develop a Local Offer that meets the needs of our SEND community. As we mark SENDLO’s 1 year birthday, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone that supported the development of the site and effective channels of communication. As part of the NHS and wider SEND partnership, we recognise the importance of people knowing what support is out there and gives our communities more choice and control over what support is right for your child and family”
Jessica Bool - Social Worker
“As a social worker supporting Wirral families, I have found the new SENDLO website to be really helpful when I’m supporting families who have children and young people with special educational needs. The information is easy to find and the families I work with are now aware of it and tell me that they use it too. One family was desperate to find an activity for their daughter who had become socially isolated during COVID. By using the website, I was able to suggest the dance sessions at Pilgrim Street. It was a nervous start but it’s been so wonderful to hear how their daughter is attending sessions, making friends and a whole new package of support has become available to the family. Thanks, SENDLO! Happy 1st Birthday!
