SENDLO visit Quilt Stitch Social

Teaching sewing to young adults with learning disabilities is a rewarding and inclusive experience.

Through patient instruction and adaptability, the volunteers empower members to develop valuable life skills and boost their self-esteem.

As they learn to thread needles, stitch fabrics, and create their own projects, they gain a sense of accomplishment and independence, The need for a positive, supportive environment atmosphere, enables these individuals to build their sewing skills with giving them a confident boost and a sense of accomplishment.

We asked @Reagan_makes (check out her fab Insta) what she enjoys about Quilt Stitch Social she said “NO SUCH THING AS BEING RUBBISH, ASK FOR HELP AND ANYONE CAN DO IT” Reagan currently has one of her makes displayed in an Exhibition in Chorley. Her quilt project is called ‘ A Tangle in Christmas Lights’ which represents Christmas in Reagan’s family.

She wants everyone to “just have fun and sew” as we know she does.

Reagan has only been sewing since November 2021. Nicola is an artist and designer and loves to sew, she gave Reagan the opportunity to have a go on the sewing machine and Reagan proved to be a natural.

She has inspired lots of people (especially Poppy who was desperate to have a go on the sewing machines) during her quilting and sewing journey and as a result, Nicola, Reagan, and Reagan’s mum Vicky set up Quilt Stitch Social who meet every Friday.
