Parent, Carer Participation Wirral (PCPW)

Parents and carers are vitally important in our Local Area SEND Partnership. We are strengthening our links with Parent Carer Participation Wirral and seeking to collaborate and engage with as many parents and carers as possible throughout our improvement journey. The experiences of parents and carers provide excellent learning and insight which is helping to improve relationships and services across the local area.

Parent Carer Participation Wirral (PCPW) are a group made up of parents and carers for children and young people aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities who live on or receive SEND services on the Wirral. Our activities are funded by the Department for Education, and we are overseen by a National Charity – ‘Contact’. We are the recognised “voice” by Contact, and the Department for Education to participate with and co-produce services with the Local Authority.

PCPW Chair, Cath Griffiths and PCPW Vice Chair, Lisa O’Boyle are members of the Local Area SEND Partnership Board. Many of the PCPW Steering Group are members of the Workstreams and attend other relevant meetings and workshops to help drive improvement by sharing the voice and experience of local parents and carers.

The local area is proud to be working with a wide range of community organisations and parent/carer support groups. Many of these groups will feature in these pages and will provide blogs and support updates.

We welcome engagement and support from all parents and carers. If you would like to get involved- to share ideas, volunteer, support activity, or to share your experiences (good or bad) please contact us via e mail: sendlo@wirral.gov.uk
