SENDLO has recently found out about The A World UK CIC.

A World UK CIC is a non-profit organisation. It works hard to make the world a better place for people on the autism spectrum. The group advocates for autism. It strives to increase awareness of autism in local communities. Plus promotes acceptance and inclusion.

The company hosts many "take-over" events for the whole family to enjoy all year. They have teamed up with some of the UK's top attractions in recent years. These include Gulliver's World Theme Park and Eureka! The National Children's Museum, and many more. The take-over days offer amazing opportunities for people with autism. They can now enjoy memorable days out that once seemed out of reach.

The take-over days are designed for people with autism. The spaces are quieter and less crowded. There are sensory-friendly resources. Plus trained staff help create the best experience for visitors with autism.

Recently, the company took over Blackpool Zoo for the day. Wirral families said they had a fantastic time! For the first time ever, Blackpool Zoo temporarily closed its doors to host this exclusive event.

Blackpool Zoo worked hard to create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Some of the changes they made included:

  • A sensory map, a social story, and an information leaflet

  • A barrier-free, low-sensory entry

  • A quiet space for those who needed it

  • Extra sensory signage. This helped people find places with sudden noises or possible sensory issues.

  • No background music or recorded sounds throughout the park

  • Limited Tannoy and radio announcements.

  • Smaller, quieter talks. The zoo even hosted a silent sea lion demonstration. This included visual prompts and sign language!

  • A quiet train ride, which was a huge hit!

Sounds fab, doesn’t it!
