One brick at a time: Lego Therapy coming to Wirral schools
Wirral Virtual School recently teamed up with external training company Think Bricks. Together, they provided Lego Therapy training for delegates from 20 schools in the borough.
Think Bricks are advocates for play therapy. The Lego Therapy helps children and young people open up and talk when they have built their thoughts, feelings, and ideas using this special set of Lego.
The training gave the delegates the skills to run Lego therapy sessions themselves within their schools. They were all excited to be given a large carry-case of bricks and resources, which contained everything they needed to begin sessions. All of the delegates now have lots of strategies, activities, and a new bank of resources to take away and use with their pupils. This play therapy will be used to help children who may be struggling with their mental health.
Who are the Virtual School? Wirral Virtual School is a statutory service within Wirral Council. The Virtual School used to be known as 'Looked After Children’s Education Services' (LACES). The Virtual School oversees the education of children in the care of the local authority .
